1/2 drive torque wrench and chrome vanadium sockets for under $50, tax in. Princess Auto is life.

Nice! What kind of range does it have?

Just 10-150.

Go to Harbor Freight and pickup all of that for $10.

Cool. I have 2 now that get me from 0-60 inches and 0-600 inches. Need to get some bigger ones.

I love HF, but I so don’t trust them for anything critical. If I had a way to test/calibrate I’d be there. As it is, I buy all my brute force tools from them.

I like the color-coded sockets. I ended up painting mine for easy reference, and it helps a lot.

This is 10-150 ft lb

I’m in Canada, where there is no HF. We get hosed all day, every day.

Torque everything!
A seldom used, but greatly needed tool. Could not do my motorcycle maintenance without one.

I may have to look into this...been looking for a torque wrench for basic maintenance stuff, but apparently there is only one Princess Auto location in my entire province (Nova Scotia) and it’s 1.5 hours from me...
Was this the one you picked up?

That’s the one! However, if you go, you’ll come back with spring compressors, cylinder hones, specialty vise grips and more.

Not sure about the other tools, but spring compressors would be handy! And jackstands....and a cheap floor jack....and a electric power drill/screwdriver/impact gun/etc (I don’t have any power tools!)
Buying a slew of cheap tools would be nice when I eventually have my own place / a job to import a FIAT 126 like I wish to do....the cars are dead simple and it would be a fun and easy way to start getting into wrenching on my own rides! :)

You’ll walk into there with a buttload of cash, and walk out with a buttload of tools. Trust me.

My only question is, how is the quality? Most of the tools I have right now - screwdrivers, wrenches, ratchets, sockets...are name brand tolols given as gifts to me at Christmas and birthdays....are the Princess Auto tools the kind I am going to have to replace every 5 minutes because they are so cheap to start with?

They’re good quality. I have a set of cheapo adjustable wrenches from them that are actually drop forged and everything. They are the toughest things in my toolbox. I’m going back for a breaker bar in a bit.

Cool! Maybe the next time I am in Halifax/Dartmouth, I’ll check the store out.
